CCPC, Cebu City Public Library ink CJJ Books deal

This Memorandum of Agreement, entered into between the Cebu City Public Library, represented by ROSARIO C. CHUA, librarian-in-charge, referred to here as The Library, and the Cebu Citizens-Press Council (CCPC), represented by DR. PUREZA OÑATE, president, referred to here as The Council, witnesses:

The Library shall:

[1] Provide shelves and space, free of charge, for the display of journalism and journalism-related books, e-books, trade journals and publications, videos and similar materials at the Cebu City Public Library located along Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City;

[2] Index and file the said materials, referred to as Cebu Journalism & Journalists Books or CJJ BOOKS, and make them a part of the inventory of The Library for lending to or use by its cardholders or subscribers, with priority given to journalists and mass-com students;

[3] See to it that the materials are kept in serviceable condition and give The Council at each yearend or when requested by The Council a report on damaged or lost items.

The Council:

[1] Shall undertake, free of charge, the collection of the materials for CJJ BOOKS but the Council, as a duly registered non-profit corporation, shall retain ownership, with the right to re-claim possession of the materials should (a) they no longer serve the purpose of this agreement, (b) the original function of The Library be changed, or (c) the agreement be terminated;

[2] May help the Library acquire such equipment as shelves and other display devices to improve the section for CJJ BOOKS;

[3] Shall assist in the publicity of The Library to increase its clientele and its capacity to serve the public.

THIS AGREEMENT shall continue to be in full force and effect until modified or revoked by a notice given by one party to the other 60 days prior to the change or termination.

AFFIRMING that the operation of a CJJ BOOKS section at The Library will enhance the library’s drawing power among its patrons and make it more useful to the community, we hereby sign this MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT on the first day of December, 2016 at the MBF Cebu Press Center, Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City, Philippines.
